Type of work funded
sportscotland is the national agency dedicated to promoting sporting opportunities for all Scots at all levels, whatever their interest and ability. sportscotland's Lottery Fund distributes National Lottery money to sport in Scotland. The Fund backs a variety of initiatives from supporting Scotland's talented athletes to providing sports facilities.
Programmes support local sporting communities and sport in Scotland as a whole. They do not replace existing funding for sport, but are designed to bring extra benefits.
Since the first awards were made in March 1995, sportscotland has invested more than £150 million of Lottery funds in Scottish sport.
Building for Sport programme: This programme replaced the Sports facilities programme in March 2004. The new programme has two parts.
- Community facilities providing or upgrading all facilities for the community. Proposals are led mainly by local authorities, clubs, trusts and similar organisations.
- Training and competition facilities, which considers applications for providing or upgrading facilities at national and regional centres designated by the relevant national governing body for sport.
Range of grant size: minimum – maximum
£10,000 - £500,000
